According to the Living Church News Service, the Dean-elect of the Episcopal Divinity School, Katherine Ragsdale, promoted the recently slain abortionist, Dr. George Tiller, as a “martyr” and a “saint” during a recent vigil at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Boston. I shudder to think that Dr. Tiller might be the new model for sainthood in the Episcopal Church of the United States of America.
Life is bestowed upon all of Creation by God and procreated through the natural order of His own design. Life is sacred gift from its beginning to its end; yet today it is viewed by many as a cheap bauble rather than the exquisite jewel that it is meant to be.
Tiller was a high profile champion of the right of a woman to choose to terminate the life of the child that grows within her. Please note that I choose my words carefully here. Conception sets in motion a chain of events that, if uninterrupted by natural or unnatural means, will necessarily result in the formation and birth of a unique, living child of God.
Describing the results of this miracle as “an in viable tissue mass” may assuage the consciences of some; decrying the paternalistic system that subjugates women to an inferior status because of the burden placed upon them by the necessity to sacrifice themselves and their desires to this alien object growing within them might make it easier for others; however, the fact remains that Dr. Tiller, and many others like him, was responsible for the deaths of innumerable lives during the practice of his “profession”.
Should he have been brutally gunned down in the back of a church on a Sunday morning: No! Should he have been attacked as retribution for his actions or his beliefs: No! The murder of Dr. Tiller cannot, nor should it be, condoned or explained away. Murder is murder; whether the victim is a helpless child in the womb, or the abortionist who performs the procedure.
While the act of violence upon the person of Dr. Tiller should hardly be treated as anything other than the life stealing thing that it was, we must also never forget the violence that has been inflicted upon the unborn at the hands of the abortionist. He should hardly be heralded as a “saint” as some in the Episcopal Church would have us believe in the wake of his death. If he is to be remembered at all, let him be remembered as a man who made his choices and, like all of us, will have to stand before God and answer for them.

A former U.S. ambassador to the Holy See has politely refused to receive an award from the same institution of higher learning which bestowed an honorary degree upon her several years ago.

Citing the conflicts that she sees between the guidelines set forth by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and the conferring of an honorary degree to the sitting President of the United States, Mary Ann Glendon has declined to accept the Laetare Medal from the University of Notre Dame. Apparently, the administration at Our Lady felt that giving this award would sufficiently balance the slate and placate all those that are justly angered by the university’s lack of discernment.
Dr. Glendon further objected to the University distributing talking points that identified her as the equal time portion of the show. I don’t blame her.
I tip my hat to a brave lady who is standing up for her principles and for her Faith.

The Polity of ECUSA
I am almost finished reading the Bishop’s Statement on the Polity of the Episcopal Church. Pending a major reversal on the last few pages, I believe that it is an important document that every one of my 2.6 readers should download and study. The text is found here:

The lines of battle are shifting; and, for the first time, I believe that the PB and her minions are feeling the full brunt of the doctrine, tradition, history and canon law as wielded by those who really know what about what they speak. There is no frenzied, emotional plea for understanding or compassion that flies in the face of thousands of years of accepted ecclesiology and theology. Here is a reasoned, accurate policy statement endorsed by men whose opinions carry the weight of Apostolic Succession.

Yesterday, I was perusing the Catholic News Service website, and I came across the following article:

First Impression: “My, how unfortunate and embarrassing that the Vatican rescinded an invitation to a Papal Audience. It looks like the Vatican goofed again.” Second Impression: “Oh my! The Vatican is modeling proper behavior and risking a little bad publicity in order to do the right thing.”
I don’t pretend to know all the intricacies of the politics involved with the invitation of this Palestinian mayor nor of the dis-invitation; but apparently the there were enough people in Israel who were upset by this invitation to cause the Vatican to rethink the wisdom of proceeding as if nothing was amiss. There are certain people and institutions whose actions influence the world in significant ways. Popes, presidents……institutions of higher learning….shape our world probably more than we know or wish to acknowledge.
Who should pay particular attention to this object lesson from Rome? Well, any of us to find it hard to admit that maybe we made a mistake and are afraid of looking like an idiot. Maybe anyone who is re-evaluating a decision made for they believed to be a good reason but has instead proved to be injurious to themselves and those around them. Possibly……THE UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME.
Here is the message to the leadership in South Bend: Man up! Admit your mistake. You have an anteroom full of angry Catholics (many of whom are bishops and archbishops) who are repulsed by your invitation of a man who is openly antagonistic to one of the most solidly held and uniformly taught doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church: the sanctity of life (yes, Nancy, this is true even in the Church in America). And not only that, you are conferring upon this man, who has yet to prove that he is capable of doing anything of substance other than writing a couple of “hey look at me….aren’t I impressive” autobiographies and recycling the decayed philosophies of Marx and Guevara, an honorary degree.
Rescinding the invitation of a sitting President would undoubtedly be embarrassing. The top leadership of the University should probably think long and hard about their futures. But, when the issue is as important as the preservation of the life of the unborn or of those at the end of their life; then a little egg on the face should be tolerable.

Yeah, I'm Back!
Okay, I've been on hiatus; because I wanted to enjoy Lent (WHAT?), and I wanted to limit some of the activity that was causing my blood pressure to reach heartofore uncharted levels. However, I must return to posting my thoughts so no one can read them. I know that no one reads this blog every day like clockwork.
The Good News: The GAFCON Primates have recognized ACNA, and all is right with the world. Well.....there is still a long way to go, because I don't for a minute believe that ++Cantaur can bring himself to do the same. The problem for many traditional Anglicans is the preservation of our relationship to Canterbury as the ancient See of the Faith. I understand and sympathize, however, I think if it is an ancient See that one wants, one can look to places like....Jerusalem, Antioch, Alexandria or even (GASP) ROME. I fervently hope that this recognition is a positive step toward the creation of an orthodox Anglican province in the US, but I am not counting my turkeys before they're deep fried.
The Horrific (but completely predictable) News: The Episcopal Divinity (isn't that a really rich and wonderful Southern dessert) School has continued to live into its progressive nature by choosing a radical abortionist for its new Dean. Words fail me..... Seriously, the only surprising thing here is that EDS beat CDSP to the punch. I guess CDSP is going to have to up the ante by choosing a trans-sexual, vegan, pro-abortion, pro-euthanasia, anti-Nicean, Hindu as their next Dean. Unless of course, they already have one.

My fear is that the outrage of the nation will focus on the bad doctor who screwed up a legitimate procedure rather than the barbaric procedure itself or the pain and anguish that will likely scar this young woman for the rest of her life.
Pray for the souls of the unborn and for those who are in danger.
Pray for those women who have been deceived by the pro-choice lie.
Please God.......take me now!

Fasten Your Seatbelts......
Okay, so it's been a while since I've posted.....mea culpa.....but I've been busy with family and friends and those other important things that one can do that don't cause one's blood pressure to soar to artery bursting levels. Now, however, the BP is bubbling over because the fecal substance is about to impact the rotary oscillator.
Now let's be clear about something.....I hate politics. I find it banal and trite and full of a lot of people that care way too much about themselves and their petty fiefdoms. That is not to say that every politico is inherently bad, it is a recognition that the practice of politics is like a vat of hydrochloric acid that will dissolve even the heartiest soul that finds himself immersed therein.
That being said, my rage....yes, rage.....flows from the impending deregulation of the abortion industry. With an avowed Liberal in the White House and Congress firmly in the hands of the Democrats, it is only a matter of time before the abortion mills throughout the world will be funded, directed and have their advertising supplied by the United State Government. I'm sure that Planned Parenthood, NARAL, the NAG gang, et al are ecstatic.
Let me be clear: Life begins at conception!
Let me be clearer: Life is a gift of God.
Let me be clearer still: That child in the womb is a person.
In case your not paying attention: It is not an inviable tissue mass.
For those who might still be confused: ABORTION IS MURDER!!!!!!!!
So that I may be completely understood, I also believe that the death penalty is wrong, euthanasia is wrong, and assisted suicide in any form is absolutely and completely right out!
In the ensuing months, we face a cascading number of presidential actions that will remove any and all limitations on funding abortions on military bases and through overseas aid programs. We can't export anything of substance to the world, so we are going to make it possible for women everywhere to enjoy the freedom to kill their babies in utero and for it to be funded by the American taxpayer.
But wait....there's more. It won't be long before the brainiacs in Congress bring forward the latest version of the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA). This is not only a bold faced slap at any kind of traditional understanding of state's rights or of the United States Constitution; it is a license to commit murder. Any controls over access to abortion by underage girls or wives who just don't like the idea of having their husband's baby will be wiped away in the stroke of a pen.
Is this why so many millions of Americans have fought and died on domestic and foreign shores, so a woman could freely terminate the life of her unborn child? God, please tell me it ain't so.
Right.....deep breath. I realize that it is hard to tell because I am somewhat upset about this, but I really am not angry at the women who have been fed this lie about abortion. I feel for them; I pray for them and their unborn children. Abortion has destroyed far more lives than the body count of innocent children readily indicates. I cannot believe that any woman who endures this horrific procedure could ever be the same. In God there is forgiveness; and I hope and pray that anyone who has been subjected to this torment will find that forgiveness in His loving embrace.
It is against those pointy-headed, pseudo-intellectual, post-modern merchants of death that I rage. It is against the idea that anyone has the right to unilaterally decide the fate of another living human being that I rage. It is against the idea that life is merely a commodity that can be discarded when it is inconvenient that I rage.
I find comfort in the belief that out of bad things God can and will bring good things. I find comfort in the efforts of those who believe in the sanctity of life to promote alternatives to abortion like adoption. I find comfort that there are still people of faith the world over who will stand firm for what is right.
Please pray that God will have mercy on those who are in turmoil and hurting. Pray that He will guide them to seek wise council and make right decisions. Pray that He will guide the leaders of this nation and the world to take seriously their responsibility to protect and defend those who are unable to defend themselves.
